Welcome to The Inn at Freshford - a beloved pub for locals and visitors alike for centuries.

In December 2025, The Inn was purchased and given a new lease of life by local stalwarts William and Marianne Cartwright-Hignett, from the neighbouring Iford Manor Estate.

Passionate about community, hospitality, heritage and sustainability, their ethos is to ensure that everyone visiting The Inn can escape the stresses of the everyday. Allow yourself to be in the moment; savouring exquisite food and drink.

With Executive Chef Matthew Briddon, from the award-winning Iford Manor Kitchen, heading the kitchen team you can be assured of innovative dishes to delight the senses.

Sourced from local producers, with much grown and reared on the adjacent Iford Estate, and made from scratch, sustainability is at the heart of Iford’s seasonal food offering.

The drinks list is headed up by Iford Cider, co-founded in 2016 by William with Joe Abbott, made just up the road - and never from concentrate. Lagers and ales are mostly brewed within Somerset, or from an adjacent county. Don’t miss our very own Two Valleys Lager, unique to us at Freshford on tap. All alongside a carefully curated list of wines, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks.

The garden is currently closed, but plans are afoot to renovate this area soon in time for the summer months, with William and Marianne designing a garden area alongside their expert gardening team from their internationally renowned Grade 1 registered gardens at Iford, headed by Head Gardener Steve Lannin.
